Seems like there’s a study or research results being published each week regarding concussions in soccer.
There isn’t a study out there that does not conclude that concussions are very serious brain injuries and prompt medical attention is required.
A very recent study from Boston Children’s Hospital concludes that young children and teenagers take longer to recover from a concussion if they’ve had one before and this reaffirms many previous studies as well.
Just five years ago it was believed that kids recovered from a concussion within a week; no we know that recovery times take much longer – of course depends on the concussion grade. This study verifies that a second concussion is even more serious than the first.
There are other factors as well that also affect the recovery times: being thirteen years or older, not losing consciousness, and having a higher post concussion symptom questionnaire score.
