What is post concussion syndrome?

Post concussion syndrome in soccer is, collectively, the effects on the body you may experience after the occurrence of a concussion.

These may include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, sensitivity to light, difficulty concentrating and/or memory recall. Some are said to experience personality changes!

These symptoms can last from days to weeks; severity and longevity is dependent on the severity of the concussion. A soccer player experience a mild concussions may simply have a headache that last a bit while a player whose head has a violent and crushing impact with another player may have just about all symptoms of post concussion syndrome.

What will not go away, and recent studies have revalidated, is the likelihood of a soccer player having a another concussion is much greater! Each one adds to the severity and the damage to the brain.

Sometimes players return playing even though they have not fully recovered; they get back in the game, so to speak, and once again experience a lack of concentration, additional headaches, etc.

    If you suspect ANY level of concussion force that player to sit out. Even it just seemed like a light ding if that players gets hit again that second hit could cause some serious damage. The rest of their life isn’t worth a soccer game!
